Ode to Solange...

The Raw Edge Team are in awe of the Solange Knowles, a star in her own right. Regular readers of our blog will know of our appreciation for this young lady, who continues to impress us.

The beautifully fierce, musician, dj, fashionista and mother is finally receiving the recognition and appreciation she has long deserved. Upon the release of 'Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreamers' (office playlist) we knew she was one to watch!! We even got the opportunity to witness her rock the house, whilst djing with Bey grooving at her side @ Brooklyn Bowl, NY!!!

However not only is she musically talented she has been running ahead in the style stakes for the past few years. I quote a British fashion weekly who pictured Solange next to style icons Diane Kruger and The SJP ,

''Solange looks great at the moment. She's stopped trying to look like every other R&B singer and developed her own style. She's putting it out there - and deserves credit for that''.

The Raw Edge Team Loves... Selfridges Shoe Galleries!!

The Raw Edge Team is ecstatic!! Here in London, we have THE BIGGEST SHOE DEPARTMENT IN THE WORLD!!

This news was highly important to the Raw Edge Team whose members share a similar addiction to Carrie Bradshaw. Between us, our shoe collection, could do some serious damage. Thus when we heard the news that we would have access to 100,000 pairs of shoes we had to investigate further....

The Selfridges Shoe Galleries launched last week and boy were we we pleased!! There is every shoe you could possibly dream of; from exclusive Topshop and River Island (surprisingly impressive range) to your Balenciagas and Louboutins. The decor is also outstanding; saloons and boutiques, one of which is a recreation of Coco Chanel's apartment!! What more could we ask for!! Already made several guilty trips. We are totally smitten!

NY FNO

Never before have I experienced a night like this one. I was in New York for the first ever Fashions Night out last year and it was good but this years trampled all over it. The night was INSANE! The streets where like a zoo, stuffed with fashionistas, stylistas, fans, the general interested public and celebrities alike.

Events were popping off all over New York City satisfying the taste buds of almost everybody. Free drinks where on offer, giveaways, mingling with models, celebrities and designers keeping the night alive and kicking. I started my night off in designer Nicole Miller's store, Soho grabbing my free Ciroc cocktails and waiting for singer Cassie and designer Nicole to begin the party. Model/DJ Tyger Lily killed the scene, dancing with her bow-legged self (gotta love bowlegs!) on deck, whilst simultaneously playing some super jams.

Upon leaving that event, I stumbled upon the Billionaire Boys Club Store and the oh so cute Pharrell of NERD. Sadly I missed singers Chris Brown and Ryan Leslie who had all been in the building to party with NERD. However I did bump into others including Dawn 'Dirty Money' and my fave model, Arlenis Sosa!!!

To my surprise the party did not stop there. I have never experienced anything like it...the biggest street party I have ever witnessed took place in Soho with random drunks and party-happy people doing the dougie!! I just loved the way fashion united everyone that night; the kitten heeled and the louis v carriers. Just great!New York didn't let me down. Definitely a night to remember, roll on Fashions Night out 2011 I say.

Vogue's Fashion Night Out 2010 LDN

London's West End came alive on Wednesday 8th September 2010 with VFNO! The Raw Edge Team had a fantastic time @ Vogue's FNO. Cocktail receptions at our favourite stores followed by dancing in the street, photo booth shenanigans, shopping discounts, models prancing up and down and live performances all over the place!! What more could we ask for in one day!

Our highlight of the night had to be Janelle Monae's performance at Gap, Oxford Street. The US born musician blew her fans away with not only her signatory eclectic tailored chic style but through her phenomenal performance. Her band was pretty fly too.
